Video calls
MonoPbx supports one-to-one video calls by GA. A call starts as audio and can be upgraded to video.
What works
- Softphone to softphone and softphone to browser, on the apps and the web client.
- Codecs VP8 and H.264, passed through without transcoding.
- The media runs through the same relay as audio, so the UDP media range must be open (see Network requirements).
What does not work
- No video on desk phones. Desk phones take the audio side of a call only.
- No video recording.
- No meetings. Multi-party meetings are out of version 1.
- No video in CarPlay or Android Auto. Those systems do not allow it.
Tips
- Users behind strict firewalls may need the TURN relay (port 3478, or 5349 over TLS) open; see Network requirements.
- Video takes far more bandwidth than audio. Plan uplink capacity with the sizing calculator.
